At Zeovus, quality is not a department — it is a system. ZQA (Zeovus Quality Assurance) is our proprietary 12-step framework covering 825 individually verified testing parameters across every product batch we produce. This article unpacks what ZQA is, why we built it, and what it means for the brands and buyers who partner with us.

Why Did We Build a Proprietary Quality Framework?

When we set out to manufacture food for private label partners and B2B buyers, we quickly discovered that compliance certifications — FSSAI, HACCP, ISO 22000 — are necessary but not sufficient. They tell you a facility has the right processes. They do not guarantee that every single batch leaving the floor meets the exact nutritional, sensory, and safety specification on the product brief.

We needed something more rigorous. So we built ZQA.

What Are the 12 Steps in ZQA?

ZQA governs a product from raw ingredient arrival to dispatch, across twelve checkpoints:

1. Raw Material Incoming QC — Every ingredient batch is tested for identity, purity, and contamination before entering the facility.

2. Supplier Qualification Audit — All new suppliers are audited against our approved vendor list criteria before a single gram is accepted.

3. In-Process Sampling — Our QC team pulls timed samples at every critical control point during production.

4. Nutritional Verification — Macro and micronutrient profiles are tested against the product specification sheet using NABL-accredited lab methods.

5. Microbial Testing — Samples are tested for total plate count, yeast, mold, coliforms, and pathogen markers (Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli) per international standards.

6. Sensory Evaluation — Trained panels assess colour, texture, aroma, and taste against the approved reference standard.

7. Physical Attribute Check — Weight, fill, particle size, and moisture content are checked at line speed.

8. Allergen Control Verification — Cross-contamination risk is assessed for every product run, especially critical for gluten-free and allergen-claim formulations.

9. Packaging Integrity Testing — Seal strength, barrier properties, and labelling accuracy are validated before dispatch.

10. Shelf-Life Accelerated Testing — Representative samples undergo real-time and accelerated storage studies to validate claimed shelf life.

11. Third-Party Lab Verification — For export orders or on buyer request, we commission independent NABL/ISO 17025-accredited lab analysis.

12. Batch Record and CoA Sign-Off — A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is issued per batch, and batch records are archived for full traceability.

What Are the 825 Parameters?

The 825 parameters are the cumulative count of individual test points across all 12 steps, applied across the full Zeovus product range. Different product categories carry different parameter sets: a high-protein pasta formulation, for instance, carries a different nutritional verification matrix than a spice blend. But no product ships without completing the applicable subset for its category.

How Does ZQA Protect Our Partners?

For private label buyers, ZQA means you receive a CoA with every batch. You can verify any claim — protein content, caloric density, allergen-free status — against documented lab results. For co-development partners, ZQA means your approved formula is locked and reproducible across production runs. You are not buying "approximately" the product you developed; you are buying the product you developed.
